A Morning with ACE Leadership Charter High School Leads to Internship Opportunities for Anderson!

Megan and Kate had a wonderful visit this morning to the Architecture, Construction, and Engineering Leadership Charter High School (ACE). We met with the executive staff, faculty, and students to learn more about the innovative program, which serves Albuquerque high school students who were not  flourishing in a traditional high school environment. The exciting curriculum at ACE centers on project-based learning, where students take real-world applications of the arts, sciences, and humanities and cultivate their skills completing projects. They've partnered with major industries in Albuquerque to accomplish their goals.

The team at ACE is passionate and devoted to the cause of providing quality education and empowerment to all students regardless of past education history or economic status. We're excited to announce a new partnership between Anderson and ACE that will provide opportunities for our students to conduct research, help with database management, marketing, and more. Contact Kate at Career Services  (kwill07@unm.edu) for more information about these upcoming opportunities or for more information about this fantastic organization.

iLaunch Presents Networking 101: What If I Don't Have a Professional Network?

We've all heard the statistics about the importance of a professional network to finding new jobs and internship opporunties. However, this can feel like a daunting task as a student. In fact,  one of the biggest concerns my students have is their "lack" of a professional network. Check out the video below from the folks at Linked In for tips and tricks on how to build a professional network...even if you feel that you don't know anybody!

Our inaugural Anderson Kickoff Event, held on September 8, 2011, was a tremendous success! Anderson students, faculty, advisors, alumni, and community members convened to celebrate the new school year and get studies started in style. Participants enjoyed root beer floats, green chile popcorn (a New Mexico favorite!), and Anderson swag. The events proceeded throughout the day, including a vibrant alumni panel series, speakers from the UNM School of Law and College of Engineering, and Anderson's very own Career Services Center. The many active student organizations here at Anderson also played an integral role in the successful event, using it as an opportunity to recruit new members and provide information to all attendees. We look forward to turning this into an annual Anderson tradition!
