We've all heard the statistics about the importance of a professional network to finding new jobs and internship opporunties. However, this can feel like a daunting task as a student. In fact, one of the biggest concerns my students have is their "lack" of a professional network. Our inaugural Anderson Kickoff Event, held on September 8, 2011, was a tremendous success! Anderson students, faculty, advisors, alumni, and community members convened to celebrate the new school year and get studies started in style. Participants enjoyed root beer floats, green chile popcorn (a New Mexico favorite!), and Anderson swag. The events proceeded throughout the day, including a vibrant alumni panel series, speakers from the UNM School of Law and College of Engineering, and Anderson's very own Career Services Center. The many active student organizations here at Anderson also played an integral role in the successful event, using it as an opportunity to recruit new members and provide information to all attendees. We look forward to turning this into an annual Anderson tradition!
